Colours are just over halfway complete! I'm still adjusting to my new schedule with a part-time job, but the goal is to have colours complete before the end of November. Here's some of my favourite pages so far, but these colours aren't final! with/
THE IRON BARGE CHAPTER 3 PG 10
THE IRON BARGE CHAPTER 3 PG 19
THE IRON BARGE CHAPTER 3 PG 24-25
In my opinion, the world really starts to feel tangible once the colours come in! This double-page spread was tough to figure out at first. I was originally thinking all sorts of neon colours for different shops and ads, but it became a nightmare for the eye. So, tentatively, I'm trying out a bright cold green palette. But we'll see what it looks like after edits!
KICKSTARTER VS TARIFFS
Tariffs have had knock-on effects in almost every industry, and comics are no exception. If you aren't aware: most comics are printed in Canada or China. THE IRON BARGE Book 1 was printed in Quebec, Canada, and all the kickstarter rewards were shipped by myself (Meaghan) and our editor Allison from Canada. With a largely American audience (75% of our backers were American!), going into this second kickstarter will be tricky. Once the colours are complete, we'll be assessing our options and what that will look like. Those options may be going through an American fulfillment service, or shipping in bulk to our writer Norm, or something else that may present itself by the time we start planning. Whatever those options are, we wanted to make sure you know that the Book 2 kickstarter will happen! It'll just look a little different from Book 1.
That's it for this month! As always, feel free to reach out to meor Normon bluesky with any thoughts or questions.
